If you are looking to make extra money, you may have come across a free survey app that wants to pay you for your opinion. It almost seems too good to be true, so does it actually work?
In short, yes! You can actually make money on survey apps.
The trickiest part of this gig is finding the right survey apps to use. Not all survey apps are created equally, and some are more worth your time than others. We’ve researched all of the best apps, and we’re going to give you the breakdown of the ones to try that will actually make you some side money.

Not all survey apps are created equally, and some are more worth your time than others.

1. Survey Junkie
This app is one of the most popular options for a reason: it pays well. You can make up to $2 on every survey you complete, and it’s so easy that it actually becomes addicting.
Survey Junkie’s tagline is that you can “be an influencer” by giving your opinion on popular products so that brands can market better.
Each survey earns you points that you can redeem for money through PayPal or other online gift cards. The only negative is that you have to meet a $10 threshold to be able to cash out, but it doesn’t take long to get there if you’re taking surveys regularly.
To get started, Survey Junkie has you create an account and fill out a questionnaire so they can learn about you. Then they start sending you curated surveys that meet your interests.
2. Swagbucks
Swagbucks has been a popular survey website for years, and now you can download the Swagbucks app to make taking surveys even more convenient.
The downside to Swagbucks is that you have to meet certain criteria to participate in surveys. But don’t worry. If you don’t qualify, there are other ways you can use the app to make money.
Swagbucks will also pay you to watch videos, play games, signing up for a newsletter, and more. A perk to Swagbucks is that you only need to meet a $3 threshold to cash out.
They also have a $5 sign-up bonus, and you can make money by referring friends. Of all of the survey apps out there, Swagbucks definitely offers the most opportunities to make money.
3. InboxDollars
If you want to take surveys that are worth more money, check out InboxDollars. Most surveys pay between fifty cents and five dollars, but you can find some that pay up to $10.
Like Swagbucks, InboxDollars offers other ways to make money in addition to surveys. You can also earn by watching videos and playing games on the app. They even have coupons you can print.
If you prefer cash back, you can get it through a VISA gift card or retail gift cards.
4. LifePoints
Want to get paid to be a product tester? If your answer is yes, then LifePoints is a great option for you.
Just like the other apps, LifePoints will pay you to take surveys. They’re quick and easy to take through your phone. However, if you want to take it a step further, you can be paid to complete activities and test products.
LifePoints will send you an invitation via email to complete certain activities for a specified length of time and track the process in a diary. They will also send you products to test out over a certain amount of time before you give them your opinion on them.
If you can commit to longer projects as well as the quick surveys, LifePoints is what you’re looking for. If all else fails, at least you will get some free products!

5. OpinionOutpost
This app is interesting because, in addition to taking surveys for businesses, you can also take surveys for the government. They pay well, too, in comparison to other apps. You can make up to five dollars for surveys that take 10-30 minutes.
OpinionOutpost pays through Paypal or gift cards, and you only need to meet a $5 threshold to cash out.
6. MyPoints
Want to get paid to shop? MyPoints has great cashback programs in addition to their surveys. They partner with tons of retailers so you can make up to 40% cash back just for purchasing things through their shopping platform.
If you already do a lot of online shopping, this is a great way to keep some change in your pocket. Of course, you can also be paid to take surveys on the MyPoints app.
A big draw to the MyPoints app is the $10 welcome reward. However, you have to spend $20 through their shopping platform during your first month to earn the $10 bonus.
7. Prize Rebel
Unlike the other apps, Prize Rebel sticks to surveys. If you’re looking for a straightforward app without a bunch of extras, this is it. Their surveys focus on market research, so you’ll answer questions based on your consumer habits.
Prize Rebel pays through PayPal and gift cards. They have a really large selection of gift card options for retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Apple, and more. You can also qualify for rewards and free products that they send directly to your home.
8. Google Opinion Rewards
Want to earn gift cards for watching TV? Google Opinion Rewards will pay you just to report your TV usage. You have to connect a few things between Google and your TV for it to work, but they provide everything you need. They pay in gift cards for audience measurement activities.
However, you can also make cash for taking quick surveys. You can receive money through PayPal or a Google Play credit.
9. Panel App
Panel App wants to pay you just to access your data. As they put it, simply go about your day and the app will reward you for sharing your data. You can also earn money by taking quick surveys, and they have tons of sweepstakes you can enter.
Long Pin
Panel App also has a unique referral program. Instead of a base payment when a friend signs up, you can earn a commission from their earnings. In the long run, this can work out to earn you more, so you should definitely get all of your friends using the Panel App.
10. iPoll
Want to go on a mission around your town? iPoll will pay you to visit certain stores, take pictures, and try the products. If you want to get out of the house and make some money, this is the perfect option for you.
The downside to this app is you have to make at least $25 to withdraw money, but this amount is totally possible. A lot of users make around $50 per month with iPoll.
11. YouGov
Are you tired of giving your opinion on brands and products? Switch gears to important political issues with YouGov. You can also share your opinion on entertainment, sports, and more.
The drawback to YouGov is that it doesn’t have as many surveys available as other apps. If you’re looking to make a decent chunk of change quickly, you might want to do it in addition to another app that has more to offer.
You also have to make at least $50 to withdraw from YouGov, so it isn’t as quick as other apps. However, if you want to give your opinion about topics other than brands and products, YouGov is a refreshing option.
12. Toluna
If you want an app with a social side, Toluna is for you. The survey side of the app is pretty similar to other apps; they are all based around products and brands. However, users report enjoying the community part of the app as well.
If you feel like trying your luck, Toluna also does daily lotteries where you can win up to $300.
The only negative to Toluna is that the points that you accumulate to redeem for cash expire. If you use this app, just be sure you redeem them regularly so you don’t miss out on your earnings.
Which Survey Apps Are Best for You?
To choose the right app for you, think about what types of surveys you want to take.
Do you want to influence brands and share your opinion on products? Want to answer questions about politics and current events instead? Want to go on missions and participate in longer projects?
The major perk of all of these apps is that you can do it anywhere and on your own time. Instead of logging into a website on your computer at home, you can download a survey app and quickly take a survey while you wait in line at Starbucks.
Money Making Apps
This list doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the free survey apps out there, but hopefully, it gives you a good place to start. The best way to find the app that works for you is to try a bunch of them and see which one you can make the most money with right off the bat.
